Peace, Conflict, and Human Rights

Peace, conflict and Human Rights are they a social phenomenon or just an extremely complex issue. The ideal of human rights, like that of democracy and many other socio political nomenclatures, has now become a beleaguered concept. It is subject to conflicting interpretations and practices that have brought about confrontations around the world. It has become even an acceptable rule of thumb for one individual, class, or nation to preach human rights and yet act against human rights. The world today is indeed at a most critical crossroad and Goeman undertakes the task of understanding and decoding the multiple, ethical and controversial factors revolving around it.
